Arataki Block 2021 Red Blend

Arataki means to guide, lead or conduct and it embodies the nature of this wine. Soil and vine lead whilst the grower respectfully guides. Arataki Road was also where the Village Orchard was once upon a time so it’s a special place to us. The clay rich block is at the bottom of the vineyard and it backs onto Arataki Road. The best rows of Merlot (80%) and Syrah (15%) were selected for this with a loving touch of Petit Verdot (5%). Arataki Block is full bodied on the palate with beautiful aromatics. The artwork is of the view from the block looking toward the peacefully resting warrior legend Te Mata-o-Rongokako.
